Moon Active are looking for an experienced Senior level designer who is able to create, review and manage world-class quality designs for our casual puzzle games!

You will collaborate and inspire a team of other designers under the guidance and supervision of the level design director to support the ongoing content production needs of our new title.

Responsibilities

  • Be a role model in all areas of conduct. Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas.
  • Creating best-in-class content in line with our design pillars to excite and engage our players
  • Designing and helping to oversee the core playable content
  • Liaising closely with product management or other team leads, to identify and prioritize feature work essential for creating content of sufficient quality and variety
  • Evangelise the craft, and set the expectation of quality. Being the gold standard for what the content in the project looks like, in particular for our junior level designers
  • Iterating your content based on feedback provided in playtest sessions
  • Structuring and ordering content to onboard game concepts/mechanics, as well as providing the best variety and challenge for the game
  • Ideating and creating design documents for new exciting game mechanics
  • Onboarding and mentoring more junior level designers of the team, as well as being a part of peer-reviews and interviews for junior designers
  • Assist the hiring manager with interviewing potential candidates for design roles.
  • Using data to inform and balance existing content and form hypotheses and direction for future content
  • Assisting the rest of the level design team with improving our content pipeline, processes and tools
  • Actively participate in design reviews and design team meetings
  • Supporting and collaborating with the wider team in their disciplines from a level design perspective (Production, QA, Art, Game Design, etc)
  • Supporting the Lead Designer or Design Director with any ad-hoc tasks and duties

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mid-Level Designer on a published mobile game 
  • An inquisitive, positive and creative mindset for the level design craft
  • Supervisory experience (including mentorship, team-building, and delegation) 
  • A solid grasp of design methodologies and an up to date knowledge of the casual audience and casual game markets and player motivations
  • A passion for gaming, particularly with regards to mobile games 
  • Ability to create excellent quality designs for a mass audience, often to strict deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate feedback and design ideas
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to showcase your ideas visually
  • A strong self-driven work ethic and ability to work effectively and independently in an agile team environment, having complete ownership of the work you deliver.
  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with your own discipline, as well as other disciplines on the team
  • An ability to incorporate feedback from your team into your work and use it to learn and grow in your role

Bonus skills: 

  • Experience in performing A/B testing, highly analytical approach and conclusion making abilities
  • A basic knowledge about scripting/programming - in particular C# and Python
  • Experience with Photoshop or Maya 
  • Experience with working along-side remote working colleagues
  • Completion of a game design (or similar) degree
  • Track record of managing projects or teams
